Project Description
Downtown Post Office & Diocese Corporate Offices
Downtown Post Office & Diocese Corporate Offices hired ACi Architects to help save a historic city landmark through an extensive historic adaptive re-use program. ACi Architects preserved and transformed this strategically located property into a Class A commercial office product. ACi Architects’ vision and new urban design led to the private sector’s purchase and investment to upgrade the Downtown Orlando Post Office and reallocate space for the Central Florida Catholic Diocese headquarters within the historic landmark.
In 2000, ACi Architects, working with the USPS and the City of Orlando, created a set of development entitlements in preparation for an RFQ for the selection of a developer. A developer was selected, the post office remained, and it became the new home for the Catholic Diocese of Orlando. ACi Architects created both owners’ interior designs while restoring the exterior.
“We don’t build like that anymore.”
